A CLASSIC OLD-SCHOOL GAME
R-Type II is a horizontal scrolling shooter arcade game developed and published by Irem in 1989. This classic old-school game is the sequel to R-Type and the story takes place two years after. The player controls a ship called the R-9C which is an improved version of its predecessor, the R-9.
The Bydo Empire is back! Take it down with power-ups, two new types of weapons, the Search Laser and Shotgun Laser, and a new anti-ground unit bomb.

This game is hands down one of my favourites now. It reminds me of old shoot em up games from when I was little. One request? Pleeeease add more levels!

Some bad moments
I downloaded this onto my iPhone and the touch screen controls make this unplayable. Most of the time my finger is blocking something that is happening and it caused most of my deaths. Game could use an option to have a "slide" on the side that doesnt contain the actual game so you can use your finger without it covering gameplay. Would have been fun but 100% waste of $3.
Love this game when it was a quarter operated arcade game, and loved it on the PlayStation (R-Type Final). Im able to almost finish the game on those platforms, but on the iPad Air, I cant even get pass stage2! The virtual D-pad is near impossible, while touch is near spot-on. However, its almost impossible to dodge the hordes of bullets/missles when your finger/hand is blocking the screen/view! PLEASE add an easy mode option, when folks can pass easy mode, they can move on to normal and insane. Great job with the sounds/graphics. Please update graphics to be more like R-Type Final!
From music to gameplay it feels as old as school can be. High quality game for a low quality price. Higher difficulty that can be unlocked adds replay value!
Its properly adapted to the touch-screen platform, and its a great, challenging adventure to play. Its really fun, go buy it
Nice to see the port. The controls need a little fine tuning, but otherwise its the same great game its always been. Unfortunately, its still as challenging as its always been, and having your fingers blocking your view doesnt exactly help.
This could use a speed option to dial it up or down 120%-70%.
